WORKSHOPS

If you do not have a kettlebell certification, but would like to learn the best ways to cue and coach your clients, these workshops are a must. Not only will you learn skills that will help build your credibility and confidence among clients, but you’ll be able to apply all of these to your own training as well. If you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk! Give your clients a great coaching experience and help them get stronger in a safer and more effective way, or learn how to write your own kettlebell programming!

Renah will also come to your gym or group if you would like to host a private kettlebell workshop for your team. Questions? Email renah@dft-stl.com.

Kettlebell Foundations

As coaches, it’s our responsibility to understand and teach the importance of building a basic foundation to our clients so they can continue training for many years to come. This is especially true for anyone who is using kettlebells in their training. Learning and mastering the basics will pay off big time in the long run. During this 3 hour workshop you will go back to the basics on coaching the details of the squat, military press, deadlift, and get-up.

Help your clients get stronger in the squat, press and deadlift, while also learning ways to eliminate and address back, knee or shoulder pain. You’ll be able to help them improve set-up and execution because you are going to learn common mistakes that you may be overlooking and specific cues that can help at the just the right times.

A strong foundation for the press is a must for anyone who wishes to incorporate get-ups, snatches and windmills into their training/coaching, just as a great deadlift is the foundation for swings, cleans and snatches.

We’ll also discuss how bells can be incorporated to make barbell training even stronger.

The knowledge from this workshop will not only make you a stronger coach in these three movements, but you’ll find this valuable information for all of your coaching.

This is a hands-on workshop. Attendees will work with a partner to practice observation and coaching skills, and you will receive form and coaching feedback from Renah.

After taking this workshop attendees will be able to:

  • Demonstrate correct set-up and form for: Goblet Squats, Front Squats, Single Arm and Double Military Presses, Get-Up, Single and Double Kettlebell Deadlifts

  • Explain the muscles used for all movements

  • Program the correct progressions or regressions

  • Detect, correct and demonstrate common form mistakes

  • Use specific drills and cues to build the skill

Kettlebell Swing Workshop

The kettlebell swing is a fantastic conditioning movement that is often performed incorrectly and with poor form because many coaches do not know the details of the movement.

In this 2 hour hands-on workshop you'll learn how to coach and progress a client to a great kettlebell swing. A great kettlebell swing starts with a great deadlift so we’ll go back to basics to review all of those little things that can make a big difference. From there you’ll learn how to cue clients, detect and correct common mistakes, and retrain your clients with drills that can help teach with the swing.

Not only will you learn skills that will help build your credibility and confidence among clients, but you’ll be able to apply all of these to your own training as well!

This is a hands-on workshop. Attendees will work with a partner to practice observation and coaching skills, and you will receive form and coaching feedback from the presenter.

After taking this workshop attendees will be able to:

Kettlebell Ballistics Workshop

Ballistic kettlebell movements not only incorporate a large range of muscles, but they also work the heart and lungs extensively. They are excellent for strength and conditioning! During this four hour advanced workshop we will break down these advanced kettlebell movements: single and double swing, single and double clean, single arm high pull, single arm and double snatch.

Ballistic kettlebell movements can actually make cardio fun...which is why we may be tempted to program these for clients when they aren’t quite ready. During this workshop you will learn the proper progressions and skills for your clients so they get stronger and stay engaged, rather than injured and frustrated.

It’s important as coaches that we understand when a client is ready for an advanced movement. Before programming advanced movements we must consider if a client is ready and has the necessary skills, as well as the interest in practicing the movement so they can achieve all of the benefits. For example, a client should have a strong single arm swing and overhead press before a snatch is even considered. But you must also ask yourself if this is the right movement for your client.

As we break down the details of coaching these four movements, we will also discuss progressions and their place in training programs.

Participants must have either taken the Kettlebell Swing Workshop or should email renah@dft-stl.com prior to registering. If you have not attended the Swing Workshop, you will be asked to submit a video of your kettlebell swing. It is imperative that participants have a solid knowledge of the kettlebell swing before attending this workshop. We will cover the single and double swing, but we will not review the basics of the swing. A strong swing is a must.

This is a hands-on workshop. Attendees will work with a partner to practice observation and coaching skills, and you will receive form and coaching feedback from the presenter.

  • Demonstrate correct set-up and form for: Single & Double Swing, Single & Double CleanSingle High PullSingle & Double Snatch

  • Explain the muscles used for all movements

  • Program the correct progressions or regressions

  • Detect, correct and demonstrate common form mistakes

  • Use specific drills and cues to build the skill

SFG Certification

Individual sessions are available if

you are training for your SFG Level 1

or 2. Renah has gone through each certification, as well as the

recertification process and can

help you nail down your form to ensure

an awesome weekend with a pass! Sessions for those seeking their SFG certification are designed to each individual’s specific needs.

I left Renah’s KB workshop feeling much more confident in my coaching skills! In a comfortable, helpful, and easy to absorb fashion, she improved my swing technique and provided me with the knowledge to translate it to clients as a coach. Now I can demo with proper form, give a variety of helpful cues, and assess form more confidently. - Erin B.

I have completed four weeks of kettlebell training with Renah and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. Although I have worked in the fitness industry for many years, I was blown away by all the techniques I learned, that I had not known before. Renah’s in person instructions and individualized critiques made it fun and easy to learn. It is very difficult to find a StrongFirst level 2 instructor in this area and because of this I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Renah. -Cathy B.

Renah is a remarkable instructor. As someone who is pursuing a Level 1 StrongFirst certification, she really helped me pinpoint my weaknesses and what I can do to improve them. I would highly recommend! -Kenny K.
