The inspiration for Black Dog.

He was with us for just two short years and passed away in 2018 at the age of 16. We adopted him from Five Acres Animal Shelter just before his 14th birthday. Oreo and I had an amazing bond and I'm certain he came into my life for a reason. He taught me so much and impacted me in ways I never expected. Senior dogs are just the coolest like that. Oreo showed me patience, persistence and presence

He loved to go for walks and rides in the car, and for quite some time he also loved to play ball. He sure didn’t act his age when we adopted him. They know. I swear they know. And they soak up every minute of the new chance for love and happiness.

We have adopted several dogs...Colby (Five Acres), Oreo (Five Acres), Samson (Randy's Rescue Ranch), and Tucker (St. Louis County Animal Control & Adoption Center). They all have a story and they all have blessed my life in numerous ways. Oreo and Samson were our special senior dogs when we adopted them and have crossed the rainbow bridge.

Who actually rescues who? I know the answer to that. Life is just better with a rescue animal.

I have been a board member of Athletes for Animals for ten years. And

I currently volunteer at CARE STL as a dog walker, a sometimes foster, a member of the fundraising team and I also help keep dog/cat info updated on the website.

I love supporting a number of different organizations however I can.

So, why the focus on kettlebell training? Personally, kettlebells have helped me grow stronger, physically and mentally. Kettlebells have shown me discipline and have provided me with the inspiration to be better. I always have something to learn. I enjoy the details. I understand that if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.

I have been a coach since 2011 and a business owner since 2012 (Dragonfly Fitness & Training).

I love coaching kettlebells to both fitness enthusiasts and coaches, helping people get strong, and I feel compelled to give back if and where I can. This is why I started Black Dog Fitness.

Giving Back

We are kettlebell enthusiasts, animal rescue advocates and a business that gives back! I want to help spread the word about pet adoption and donate a percentage of sales and services to local animal rescues and organizations through Black Dog Fitness. Together with Dragonfly Fitness more than $130,000 has been donated to many different local charities (a majority focused on animal welfare organizations) through fundraisers and partnerships since 2012. Dragonfly Fitness now focuses its charitable efforts on two main partnerships, Girls on the Run & CARE STL. Black Dog Fitness also focuses donations to CARE STL, but also supports Athletes for Animals, St. Louis County SAVE, Gateway Pet Guardians, Harter's Hospice & Rescue, and Randy's Rescue Ranch.
